A: Go over chart work for #26. Using vocab. flash cards, practice the vocab. Read and discuss the story. Practice book pp.54-57.

HW: Make and read the booklet “On the Bottom of the Sea”.

E: Listen to responses

 

O:  Introduce and practice spelling words; deep, sea, real, feet, and need.

A: Using shaving cream, practice writing the words and related ones.

O: To put objects in order by length.

A: Text pp. 438 - 441. Measure objects, determine longest, shortest.

HW:  Time and money worksheets.

O: Introduce was and were as words telling about the past.

A: Put sentences using past was and were on the board.  Have students read them together and

determine the verb and what makes it past tense.

O: Learn about the oceans and other bodies of water.

A: Read “Just Ask – What is the Ocean?” to the class.  Look at pictures and discuss.

O: Practice vocab. and read the story for comprehension.

A: Read the story in small groups, then read and discuss the questions at the end of the story. Practice book pp. 58 – 60. Use the word cards to play  sorry.

HW: Make and read the story “ If  I Went to the Moon.”

E: Discussion should show memory of the story.

 

O: Practice reading  long e words.

A.  Phonics book pp.248 - 252.   Review the spelling words.

E. Check work.

 

O: To estimate and measure length, to use nonstandard units.

A: Measure items to the closest inch.  Put in order short to long.  Text pp. 443 – 445.

HW: Addition worksheet.

A: Give test.  Those who get  100 %are done for the week.  Those who miss any, must write those words 5 times each.  They will retake the test on Fri.

E: Check and record the grade.

 

O: To estimate and measure length to the nearest inch: to use an inch ruler.

A: Measure items to nearest ince.  Group activity

HW: Time and money worksheets.

HW: Each student reads a book of their choice and have parents sign. Practice word list.

O: Practice writing.

 

A: Practice writing a power paragraph about taking a trip out on the sea.

 

E: Check paragraph.

 

O: To select inches and feet as the appropriate unit..

A: Give the test to those who did not get 100% on Wed.  Review words ending with y making long i or e sound. Pp. 253 – 256.

 

E: Check for correct spelling.

 

O: To estimate and measure length to the nearest centimeter: to use a centimeter ruler.

A: Identify centimeters and measure in centimeters.
