DAY

OBJECTIVE

ACTIVITY

ASSESS-MENT

Monday

TSWBAT use inequalities involving triangles side lengths and angle measures to solve problems.

Opener: Which of the following lengths make a triangle?   2,2,2  1,1,2  3,4,10

Hw check and review – BOOK check

Use spaghetti and compare lengths to find if there is a triangle.  Notes: Thm 4-9 Then discuss the opposite angle side relationship.  Name the opposite side a lower case letter of opposite angle.

Assign pg 217 # 1-4, 24, 28-34 together  then  # 5-21, 35 HW.

Hw check

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Tuesday

TSWBAT use terms and draw an item to see the relationships formed.

Opener: Handout:  3 type of triangles- draw an angle bisectors – use protractors.

Discuss folding triangles if you could to make the angle bisectors.

Hw check and review during this and after this.

Then discuss the point that they meet to be concurrent or not.

Then use lines to check MEDIANS – there is the balancing point called a CENTRIOD.  Notice it is inside the triangle.

Then do ALTITUDES – notice the extended lines meet.

Then do perpendicular bisectors – harder to draw

Notes the theorem pg  227

Summarize where they meet on different types of triangles.  Note- centriod (M), incenter (AB), circumcenter (PB)

Assign pg 230 # 1-12, 18

Hw check

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Wednesday

TSWBAT use terms and draw an item to see the relationships formed.

Opener:  Draw a triangle in the center of paper.  Find the Angle Bisectors of it and the Perpendicular Bisectors.  Each in a different color.  Then use the cooresponding color to draw the circle inscribed or circumscribed.  Notice the equilateral triangle is perfect for both.

Discuss a locus of points pg 237 reasoning copy into notes

Assign pg 223 # 1-12 together.

Worksheet on 4-7 & 8 complete

Hw check

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Thursday

TSWBAT review concepts from chapter 4

Assign pg 234 # 1-10, 12-32

Note copy 4-5 Indirect reasoning steps into notebook.

Then complete 238 3-18, 22-25 for homework.

Hw collection

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Friday

TSWBAT review concepts from chapter 4.

Opener:  Handout to review again.

Then review yesterday’s work and discuss the test.

HW collection

HW check.

CW participation

Math 8

NOTE:  2 Seniors on Coop are doing remediation this period as well in the back on laptops.

DAY

OBJECTIVE

ACTIVITY

ASSESS-MENT

Monday

TSWBAT solve word problems and understand the rubric and direction completion for full points.

Opener pg 111 # 1-12  – BOOK check

Review work

Then pg 107 Read page –discuss points.

Pg 110 # 20-21,30,31 read directions and discuss answers students got.

Students makeup an equation and word problem on one side- Answer on back side.

Assign pg 108 # 2-38 evens for homework.

Hw check

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Tuesday

TSWBAT label and setup grid correctly, and then plot points.

Bring map in and discuss reading a map from an atlas

Relate to reading a math coordinate grid. – uses numbers and an order so calculations with numbers can be done – GPS discussion

Notes – axes, origin, quadrants, coordinates and graphing points.

Assign worksheet to complete.

Review Test

Hw check

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Wednesday

TSWBAT see how two variables work together in an equation and transfer to a graph picture.

Hw check and review

Discuss two variables working together - # items = price use g 122 Investigation items  the ordered pair work together for a solution to the equation.  Do example 1 pg 123 –

Given an equation – pick an x value and then a y value

Use a calculator to show graph of a line from points and have them appear.

Worksheet start together and finish for homework

Put answers on overhead for tomorrow.

Hw collection

Notes for notebook

Cw participation

Thursday

TSWBAT practice graphing.

Assign Pg 119 # 1-24 all and pg 124 #1-9, # 12-20 show a table of at least four ordered pair then graph them on handout as shown.

Then go pg 126 # 34-44

Collect at the end of period.

Hw check

Cw participation

CW completion

Friday

TSWBAT review and be tested a bit on the graphing.

Hw check and review

Complete handout – graphing points and lines to make a puzzle solution.

Mini TEST on graphing.

Hw collection

Cw participation

Statistics

Enrichment –.  Gifted students will be working on sample AP questions later.  another student is working every other day on the computer in the back of the

DAY

OBJECTIVE

ACTIVITY

ASSESS-MENT

Monday

TSWBAT define residuals and see how they play in determining the fit.

Movie finishing on residuals while doing homework check

Review homework

Discuss residuals in notes.

Revert back to exercise 4.4 pg 83 and calculate residuals – first by hand then using calculator.

Notes: Residuals sum is 0

Facts pg 110 on regression lines – r square point

Discuss the outlier versus influential point using pg 117 picture. Copy into notes for documentation of difference.

Facts pg 119 -  only linear, not resistant, beware of extrapolation and lurking variables, association not causation-need an experiment for this

–         BOOK check

–         Notes for noteobook

–         Cw participation

–         Hw check and review

Tuesday

TSWBAT practice making scatterplots and residualts.

Book work day – BOOK check

Open to page 108 handout copy and discuss minitab computer printouts

Discuss pg 129 # 32, 31

Assign pg 109 # 2,

Pg 120 # 10, 11

Pg 125 # 16, 19, 23, 25

Book check

CW completion

Wednesday

Continue

Pg 128 # 26 use overhead and projector to show the data and scatterplots as opener.

Do pg 133 # 45 and discuss it  - have data already in another single calculator to upload quick.

Assign

Pg 129 # 34, 36-38

Discuss the test layout for Friday.

Hw check

Cw participation

Thursday

TSWBAT practice and have study time for test.

Multiple Choice test to work on then given answers at the end of  the period if they are working. Also give handout of a sample test to review.

CW completion

Friday

TSWBAT be assessed on scatterplots and their characteristics.

Answer any questions and administer test on scatterplots by hand and with the calculator.
