THE HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SCHEDULE IS AN EVEN AND ODD DAY SCHEDULE.  YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER MAY HAVE A CLASS A DAY EARLIER OR A DAY LATER THAN THE BELOW DATES FOR EACH ACTIVITY.

 

JR.-SR. HIGH EL WT. TRAINING

ACTIVITIES---WT. TRAINING UNIT.

1.      DAILY---EACH STUDENT WILL CHOOSE A STYLE OF LIFTING AND IDENTIFY THE STATIONS HE WILL USE FOR HIS WORKOUT.  THE WORKOUTS WILL BE DONE IN TWO PARTS CONSISTING OF DIFFERENT EXERCISES FOR AN ODD AND EVEN DAY WORKOUT.

2.      DAILY---WT. REPITITIONS WILL RANGE FROM 8-20 AND THE SETS WILL RANGE FROM 3-5.

3.      EVERY CLASS---PERSONAL WT. CHARTS WILL BE KEPT AND GRADED FOR EACH PERSON IN CLASS.

4.      EVERY CLASS---EACH STUDENT WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SET YEARLY AND ALL TIME SCHOOL RECORDS DURING THIS UNIT.  EACH STUDENT’S BODY WEIGHT IS RECORDED AND THE STUDENT IS PLACED INTO A LIFTING CLASS.  THE STUDENTS LIFT ONLY AGAINST THE OTHER STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL IN THAT WT. CLASS.

5.      EVERY CLASS---THE STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO COMPLETE 5 DIFFERENT LIFTS OF 3 SETS EACH CLASS.  THIS WILL INCREASE TO 5 AND LATER 6 DIFFERENT LIFTS AS THE STUDENTS BECOME FASTER AT COMPLETING EACH LIFT.

6.      WT. IMPROVEMENT TESTING AND SEMESTER FINAL WT. TO STRENGTH TESTING.

 

OBJECTIVES

1.      THE STUDETNS CAN:

A.     IDENTIFY DIFFERENT STYLES AND TYPES OF WT. TRAINING.

B.     EXPLAIN SET AND REP LIFTING.

C.     KEEP A PERSONAL WT. CHART TO SHOW DEFICIENCES, STRENGTH AND IMPROVEMENTS DURING WT. TRAINING.

D.     TRY AND SET PERSONAL AND SCHOOL RECORDS ON THE VARIOUS LIFTS ON THE WT. MACHINE.

E.      IDENTIFY THE VARIOUS LIFTS IN WT. TRAINING COMPETITIONS.

F.      IDENTIFY THE VARIOUS STATIONS OR LIFTS OF THE ST. TRAINING UNIT.

G.     EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MACHINE LIFTING AND FREE WTS.
