American History I

Objectives:

1. All students will evaluate the theories regarding the arrival of the first Americans.

2. All students will view the film: "Seeking the First Americans".

3. All students will read the assigned chapters in "April Morning" and prepare a weekly PSSA style composition on the assigned chapters.

4. All students will take the INS American Citizenship Test as a pre-test to the American History class.

Activities:

Monday - No School

Tuesday-Thursday - Lecture/Film/Discussion - The First Americans

                             - INS Citizenship Test

Friday - "April Morning" reading/quiz/PSSA composition

Evaluation:

1. Citizenship Test - 55 pts.

2. "April Morning" Composition/Quiz - 20 pts.

American History II

Objectives:

1. All student will review the timeline of the American Civil War.

2. All students will begin to develop a list of key players and events that link the American Civil War with the Civil Rights movement.

3. All students will take the current INS U.S. citizenship test.

Activities:

Monday - No School

Tuesday-Thursday - Lecture/Discussion - The American Civil War and Civil Rights - The Connection?

Friday - "The Killer Angels" - Reading/Discussion/Quiz Day

Evaluation:

1. INS Citizenship Exam - 55 pts.

2. "Killer Angels" Quiz/Journal - 20 pts.
